Nominator's project description
| Professor Robert B. Brandom is one of the leading contemporary philosophers worldwide. In his magnum opus entitled Making it Explicit, Professor Brandom sets out to develop a kind of social route from a most general speech act theory to a semantic theory of reference and meaning of utterances and sentences. Especially in his present work on Hegel, he builds a bridge between relevant thinking in 'anglo-american' analytic philosophy and so called continental philosophy from Spinoza and Leibniz via Kant to Husserl and Heidegger. Professor Brandom is hosted by Professor Pirmin Stekeler-Weithofer at the University of Leipzig. |
